In memory of Roy Gromme
On Friday, November 24th, we lost a cherished brother Delt. Roy O. Gromme (Beta Gamma, ‘57) was an incredibly passionate man - passionate about life, family, friends, and all causes he worked with, perhaps none more than Delta Tau Delta. He held numerous official positions and titles in the Fraternity, but the unofficial ones - mentor, father figure, confidante, role model, memory bank, storyteller, comedian, the list goes on - will be remembered most. Roy had an uncanny ability to connect with people, regardless of age, gender, creed, or color, and the impact he had on those people is immeasurable. He always made himself available and useful, no matter the situation. There are truly too many stories to tell, but please do share below if you’d like. Per Roy’s wishes, there will not be a public service. Donations to the Delta Tau Delta Educational Foundation (donate.deltfoundation.org/donate) or Ice Age Trail Alliance (www.iceagetrail.org/donate) can be made in Roy’s name. I’m grateful for having known Roy. Many of us would likely never have stepped foot in the Shelter we have now, or even had the opportunity to be Beta Gamma Delts if it hadn’t been for Roy’s tenacity and dedication. Though we may all feel like a piece of ourselves is now missing, we can take solace knowing the Chapter Eternal has gained a wonderful Delt and human being. Our deepest sympathies are with Susie and the Gromme family. Rest in peace Roy, you will be missed.
